Neurological Rehabilitation
Neurological rehabilitation is the term used to describe the treatment that people can receive after they have had a neurological injury, illness or diagnosis of a long term neurological condition. The World Health Organisation definition of rehabilitation states “a set of measures that assist individuals, who experience or are likely to experience disability, to achieve and maintain optimum functioning in interaction with their environments” (WHO, 2011).
Neurological Rehabilitation is a process which involves specific exercises and education of a patient, with the ultimate aim of assisting them to cope with independence, family, friends, leisure and work as soon as possible.
The rehabilitation process usually involves the patient making plans and setting goals that are important and relevant to them. It is done with the guidance, support, and help of a wide range of professionals. This is where we can help with our physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
